HBO have teased their upcoming shows, including a very quick look at Big Little Lies season 2! It seems to be mainly shots from Season 1, but there is a little new bit:
We’re on to the ‘love triangle’ period of Reese’s career in our mission to complete the Movies section of our Gallery. The How Do You Know? section has been updated with additional stills, posters, and promotional screencaptures. This movie had a fantastic cast, but it somehow fell short with a well-intentioned but awkward script and delivery. It was nice seeing Reese playing a somewhat different character and I always love seeing her alongside Paul Rudd! Enjoy the new additions:
The World’s Highest-Paid Actresses 2018: Scarlett Johansson Steals The Spotlight With $40.5 Million
Move over Emma Stone, Tinseltown has a new highest-paid actress. Scarlett Johansson leads this year’s ranking with $40.5 million in pretax earnings between June 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018, making her acting’s top-earning female lead.
Playing Black Widow in Marvel’s Avengers movies has become a lucrative role for Johansson, who quadruples her 2017 earnings to bump Stone from No. 1. She’ll return onscreen for the fourth installment of the superhero conglomerate series in 2019.
“The percent of budget cost have certainly skewed heavy, particularly on the Avengers movies, to cast now, whereas maybe in the early ones it was more visual effects or below the line,” said Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President and producer last year. “But that’s okay because [the actors] are the best effects.”
Johansson edges Angelina Jolie (No. 2; $28 million) who returns to the ranking thanks largely to her upfront pay for Maleficent 2. Jennifer Aniston (No. 3; $19.5 million) still earns big bucks 14 years after the conclusion of Friends, making most of her money by endorsing the likes of Emirates airlines, Smartwater and Aveeno. Expect her paycheck to skyrocket next year when production begins on her forthcoming Apple series with Reese Witherspoon (No. 5; $16.5 million), for which the pair will receive an estimated $1.25 million an episode.
Just ahead of Witherspoon, who rejoins the list with movie earnings and Big Little Lies paychecks, is Jennifer Lawrence. The Hunger Games actress’ two most recent movies, Mother! and Red Sparrow, underperformed at the box office. But she still commands big bucks for her turns in the X-Men series and a high-paying Dior contract.
Together, the world’s 10 highest-paid actresses tallied a combined $186 million between June 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018, before fees and taxes. Earnings estimates are based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders. All figures are pretax; fees for agents, managers and lawyers are not deducted. Overall, the cumulative total is up 16% from $172.5 million in 2017.
Reese Witherspoon, Keith Urban on board for cancer telethon
Reese Witherspoon, Mahershala Ali and Keith Urban are among the stars joining the sixth Stand Up To Cancer telethon.
Jennifer Garner, Trevor Noah, Marlee Matlin, Matthew McConaughey and organization co-founder Katie Couric also will take part in the Sept. 7 fundraiser.
Stand Up To Cancer said Thursday that this year’s live, hour-long telecast commemorates 10 years of raising awareness and more than $480 million to fund innovative research.
Bradley Cooper is returning as co-executive producer of the event, which will be carried commercial-free by major broadcast networks and cable channels in the U.S. and Canada and on streaming platforms.
In a statement, Cooper noted that his family has been touched by cancer and called it a privilege to be back with the telethon. His father, Charles J. Cooper, had lung cancer and died in 2011.
The telecast “showcases the significant progress being made in the fight against cancer, instilling hope in those facing the disease,” Bradley Cooper said.
Others participating in the Stand Up to Cancer broadcast include Kathy Bates, Tony Hale, Marg Helgenberger, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Maria Menounos, Jillian Michaels, Dak Prescott, Italia Ricci, Rob Riggle, Karla Souza and David Spade.
Stand Up To Cancer, a division of the philanthropic Entertainment Industry Foundation, was established in 2008 by media and entertainment leaders to accelerate research and get new therapies to patients quickly.
Among other achievements, it’s funded research that has contributed to federal approval of five new cancer treatments, including for breast, ovarian, pancreatic and some difficult-to-treat leukemias, the group said.
CAA Sets Rare Public Event With Reese Witherspoon, Jenny Han Among Attendees
CAA has set a new consumer-driven event, Let’s Discuss Live, an afternoon of programming designed to bring readers together with some of today’s most relevant storytellers, thought leaders, entertainers, and innovators for a series of conversations about what’s new and next in the world of books.
Let’s Discuss Live will be held Sept. 16, 2018, in New York City during the Brooklyn Book Festival.
The event marks a rarity for talent agencies, which rarely open their doors to the public.
The lineup will be highlighted by Reese Witherspoon in conversation with bestselling author and comedian Mamrie Hart to discuss their Southern roots and the inspiration behind Witherspoon’s first book, “Whiskey in a Teacup,” before it goes on sale to the public.
“Let’s Discuss LIVE creates an opportunity for our dynamic authors to gather and explore the themes of their books, alongside readers who want to hear conversations as diverse as their own reading lists,” said Kate Childs, executive, CAA Books department.
Other expected to speak will include Jenny Han, Jessica Knoll, Deray Mckesson, and Mark Manson.
Let’s Discuss Live is an extension of the author-driven book events that CAA produces in collaboration with publishing houses. Since adding the service offering in late 2016, CAA has orchestrated multi-city national tours on behalf of former Vice President Joe Biden in support of his memoir, “Promise Me, Dad”; Chrissy Metz’s for “This is Me”; Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush for “Sisters First”; and a first-of-its-kind experiential tour on behalf of internet personality Connor Franta’s “Note to Self,” among others.
Earlier in the week, Reese attended the launch of her new AT&T/Hello Sunshine channel show Shine On With Reese. She looked chic and pretty in a black and white lace Monique Lhuillier dress, with Jennifer Meyer jewellry. Reese talked about her motivation for the series being to support and encourage other women, as well as believing that changing the storytellers will change the stories we see out there. Reese mentioned that she’s been having meetings about the upcoming Legally Blonde 3, but she wouldn’t reveal any storyline secrets! She also took a toy ice cream on the red carpet with her, to reenact paparazzi photos taken of her throwing an ice cream at Meryl Streep on the set of Big Little Lies!
Lots of photos, videos, and articles are within this post for you:
The Monsters Vs Aliens section of the Gallery has now been completed, with lots of posters and high quality artwork photos, stills, and screencaptures from behind the scenes footage. Reese voiced Susan/Ginormica in this fun animated action movie!
