She might be an Oscar-winning actress but to her two kids, Reese Witherspoon is sometimes, well, just embarrassing, she says in a new interview.
To illustrate her point, the actress tells the story to Parents magazine of taking her 9-year-old daughter Ava to see country star Carrie Underwood.
“She said, ‘Mom I really appreciate you taking me to the concert, but will you please not embarrass me in front of Carrie Underwood by singing because she’s a real singer and you’re just, like a movie singer,” says Witherspoon, who won a Best Actress Oscar for playing singer June Carter Cash in 2005’s Walk the Line.

The manners and morals of a movie-star mom
I’m not a super-strict parent, but I think it’s important to have rules for children. It gives them a sense of structure — and that’s what we are all seeking. We just want to know when we’ve done something right or wrong. That’s what I’m trying to teach my own children [Ava, nine, and Deacon, five].
I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and my parents taught me to respect my elders. We’d say things like “yes, ma’am” and “no, sir” to adults. But kids in Los Angeles don’t do that. I’ve drawn the line at my children calling adults by their first names. I tell them they can call people “Miss Shannon” or “Miss Heather” but that using only the first name is too familiar. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned.

Reese won Favorite Female Movie Star at last night’s People Choice Awards! Congrats to our lady! Reese made an appearance at the event, although skipping the red carpet she made her way on stage and later to the press room. She looked beautiful in a cute dress and as you can see she has a new hairdo! Stunning as always.
I have added 50+ pictures from as well as a portrait session of Reese with her trophy. I actually totally forgot about this one last night (despite being reminded my my mom – twice) so I didn’t get to record it and thus no reminder yesterday. So if someone managed to get Reese’s speech please donate it to the site. 🙂 Also, regular updates are going to resume now (I apologize for the lack in updates lately, I was busy with the Holidays these past few weeks so now I’m going to catch up!)

Best News: Reese return to CMAs – it was fun to see her back at a really big event! She also seemed to have so much fun! All of Reese’s admirable charity work with Avon, the revelation that she wants to direct [view entry] and that Reese seems to have found herself in a happy relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Worst News: The never ending film rumors! What makes this so terrible is some sound really good like Nice.

Check out the super funny video of Reese on Jimmy Kimmel this past week (after the cut). She talks a lot about her farm and all the animal’s names, funny stuff! I really love what she wore too. Purple is one of my favorite colors on Reese and she so rarely wears it!

Reese was just on Good Morning America. I have added caps from the interview and the clip may be streamed after the cut.
The showed some new scenes from Four Christmases, and Reese laughed it up as she discussed filming with Vince Vaughn. She also discussed how she’ll spend the holidays stating that lots of cooking and caroling is a staple for her family’s traditions. She said one of the reasons she wanted to take part in Christmases was because while she wasn’t a child of divorce her children are and wanted to see it from other’s eyes and about it. It was a good little interview and I’m sure you will enjoy it!

Reese Witherspoon tell USA Today, all she wants for Christmas is a new chicken coop!
The Oscar-winning actress and star of the upcoming Four Christmases says she’ll stick to family tradition this holiday: a big Southern-style dinner and caroling around the tree. On Christmas Eve, she’ll go to church and watch the annual pageant where her children, Ava, 9, and Deacon, 5, will perform.
But after Santa has arrived and the last bites of Witherspoon’s home-cooked specialties (turnip greens, pecan-coated sweet potatoes and sugar-baked ham) have been eaten, the actress says she’ll retreat to the farm she owns outside Los Angeles.
“We feed the chickens and the pigs — I have two pigs, and boy are they really pigs. They just get down in that mud and roll around,” she says, painting a picture in stark contrast to her neatly pressed Derek Lam dress. “I like getting down in there and working in the garden. Oh, I want someone to build me a good chicken coop … like a man who can just get down there and build it … ooh.”

“It takes perseverance and determination for any young woman to navigate the movie business, It’s deeply offensive when they are objectified, treated like sex toys. It’s so easy to get attention early on in your career when you promote only the sexual side of yourself. It gains you popularity, but it doesn’t mean anything. Five years later, no one knows your name, and you wonder why.
