Reese Witherspoon and Matthew McConaughey Join Star-Studded Family Fun Day to Support a Good Cause
Reese Witherspoon showed off her impressive multitasking skills on Sunday during a special screening of Sing, which raised $100,000 for charity and allowed the actress to have a fun day out with her family.
The actress, 40, brought along her two sons, Deacon, 13, and Tennessee, 4, and husband, Jim Toth, to the Aero Theater in Santa Monica, where she and her Sing costar Matthew McConaughey spent an hour chatting with fans.
The special screening, hosted by Hint Water, helped raise money for Witherspoon and McConaughey’s respective foundations — Girls Inc. and Just Keep Livin’ Foundation. After the meet-and-greet with fans, Just Keep Livin’ Foundation executive director Shannon Mabrey Rotenberg introduced the two Oscar winners, who spoke about their organizations.
“I have gone to different schools in Nashville and Dallas,” Witherspoon said of her work with Girls Inc. “I’ve seen the profound impact it is having on these girls’ lives and teaching them about financial education and social media and life skills. It is giving them incredible confidence.”
Also in attendance were Robert Downey Jr. and Jennifer Garner, who brought her three kids to see the movie. In it, McConaughey portrays a koala named Buster Moon, who is desperate to keep his family-owned theater running; Withersoon, meanwhile, stars as a busy mom and pig named Rosita who spends her days caring for her litter of 25 piglet children — all while hiding her secret dream of being a singer.
Sing hits theaters Dec. 21.
