Open Road Going ‘Home Again’ With Reese Witherspoon Pic
Open Road Films has scooped up North American rights to Home Again, a romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon. Hallie Meyers-Shyer wrote and will make her feature directing debut with the film, which also stars Michael Sheen, Nat Wolff and Lake Bell. Production is set to begin in the fall for a planned release in Q4 2017.
Witherspoon plays as a recently separated mother of two whose new life in Los Angeles is overturned when she decides to take in three young, charismatic guys who become part of her unconventional family. Nancy Meyers is producing alongside Black Bicycle Entertainment’s Erika Olde, who also financed the film. MadRiver is selling international rights.
“Home Again is a funny and sparkling script that will be brought to life by the incomparable Reese Witherspoon,” Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg said in announcing the deal. “Nancy Meyers has brought audiences some of their all-time favorites and has a proven track record at the box office. We are proud to be in business with this family and the entire team.”
Ortenberg and Open Road’s COO/General Counsel Elliott Kleinberg negotiated the deal, with CAA repping the filmmakers.
Meyers-Shyer is repped by WME. Witherspoon, Meyers, Black Bicycle and Wolff are with CAA. Sheen is repped by ICM Partners and Bell by UTA.
