Reese Witherspoon yesterday (April 21st) admitted she is more excited about the Royal wedding than she was about her own nuptials.
The 35-year-old actress joked that she was disappointed she hadn’t received an invitation and planned to get up in the early hours of the morning to watch the live event.
‘My mother and I watched Princess Diana’s wedding. I think I was five and my mother sobbed through the whole thing,’ she told US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.
‘I’m trying to force my daughter to watch it with me and she’s like ‘why?’
‘I think there’s so much happening in the world – a lot of it is hard for a lot of people.
‘It’s just this beautiful moment between two people and I think everybody needs a little break to say ‘Oh there’s happiness’.’
Witherspoon, who stars alongside Robert Pattinson in new movie Water For Elephants, wed talent agent Jim Toth in Ojai, California, last month.
The mother-of-two said she loved every minute of her big day, despite not being fond of being the centre of attention.
‘I like going to parties. I just don’t like it when it’s about me,’ she told Ellen.
‘But once I’m there I’m having the best time and I danced for four hours until I had to put cowboy boots on.
‘I changed into cowboy boots from the most awful, uncomfortable shoes. I had a country music, bluegrass, rockabilly band that were so cool, and then a DJ.
‘We had lots of songs – not one song – tons and tons of country music.’
Newly married: Reese got hitched to Jim Toth last month at her California ranch
But asked whether she was more excited about watching Prince William tie the knot with Kate Middleton than she was about her own wedding, she confessed: ‘Absolutely.’
She added: ‘It’s more fun going to somebody else’s wedding, but I haven’t been invited, which has really been sad.’
Witherspoon has two children, 11-year-old Ava and seven-year-old Deacon, from her first marriage to actor Ryan Phillipe.
