It seems like RPattz has a thing for blondes, because according Variety he might be teaming up with Reese Witherspoon on screen sometime in the near future.
Reese has already signed to star in the upcoming adaptation, “Water for Elephants.” Francis Lawrence, who directed “Constantine” and “I Am Legend,” is set to direct the film about a Cornell University veterinary student who joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth to work as a veterinarian during the Great Depression.
Both Rob and Sean Penn are looking to join the screenplay, and we think it’s a smart choice for Rob to make. He is stretching his acting muscles with the upcoming “Remember Me” and “Bel Ami,” and “Water for Elephants” is just another step in the right direction. This is some serious acting, and getting a chance to work alongside greats like Sean and Reese will be good experience as well.
Though, we should point out that Rob and Reese have actually starred in a movie together before: he played her son in 2004’s “Vanity Fair.”
With only two, maybe three films left in the “Twilight” series, Robert seems to be making it clear that he is not going to be stuck in the tween romance mold. Depending upon the successes of his upcoming non-vampire films, he could break the barrier of pop culture phenomenon and get a chance to prove he’s got the acting chops.
Screenwriter Richard LaGravenese will adapt the Sara Gruen’s novel for the screen. Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff and Andrew Tennenbaum are producing the film.
