Reese and Avon have launched the Women’s Empowerment Necklace. It’s meant to serve as a companion piece to the 2008 Women’s Empowerment Bracelet, and the necklace is priced at just $5.00.

“I am proud to introduce the Avon Empowerment Necklace. Thanks to you, 2008 sales of the Empowerment Bracelet raised over $1 million for the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and generated more than $2.5 million in additional funds for local programs in the US and globally to help victims and their families. Purchase the necklace now and let’s help stop the violence – together. Thanks for your support.” – Reese Witherspoon

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Avon Empowerment Fund to end domestic violence against women. It may be purchased on www.avon.com.

“Nearly a billion women worldwide are affected by violence. The Empowerment Necklace is an easy way for all women to take action and demonstrate solidarity to reduce the worldwide epidemic of violence against women. As Honorary Chair of the Avon Foundation, as a woman, and as a mother, I am proud to support this effort.” – Reese Witherspoon

Alexander Payne is putting the finishing touches on the social satire Downsizing a script about small people, and has put together a big-name cast.

Paul Giamatti, Sacha Baron Cohen and Reese Witherspoon have all committed to star in the film, which would likely land at Fox Searchlight, where Payne has a first-look deal.

Giamatti, who previously teamed with the director on Sideways, is on board to star as a man low on money who decides he can have a much nicer life if he undergoes a process to shrink himself.

Witherspoon, also a Payne alum, whose career took off after starring in Election, would play a woman Giamatti meets on his journey as a small person. Cohen would play a pint-sized foreigner.

There are no deals in place for the three principals, and no negotiations will take place until Payne finishes his screenplay, which he is penning with Jim Taylor. Jim Burke is producing alongside Payne.

Unlike previous Payne pics, Downsizing would require considerable special effects and could push the budget out of Searchlight’s realm.

Project marks Payne’s first pic since “Sideways,” which was a Searchlight pic.

Rumor is Alexander Payne (director of Election) might be getting into a new film soon and it’s being strongly gossiped that Reese Witherspoon will be one of the stars. The film also may feature, Sacha Baron Cohen, Paul Giamatti and Meryl Streep. It’s all evidently in the preliminary stages but we’ll keep you informed. It could certainly be interesting with that cast/crew behind it!

“Nothing is locked down at this juncture, not even script, certainly not cast,” Wells’ source says. “[Payne is] still working on screenplay, although he’s close.”

Reese Witherspoon made an appearance at yesterday’s 81st Annual Academy Awards, she presented the award for Best Director. Miss Reese looked utterly gorgeous wearing a modified Rodarte Spring 2009 creation. For the show her hair was worn back, but at the Vanity Fair after party she opted to wear it loosely down. This woman seriously should have gotten to grace the red carpet! 😉 The after party also marked the ‘official’ debut of Reese and Jake Gyllenhaal as a couple. The two have been dating for several months as many of you know and look so cute together!

Today on Oprah there was the annual after Oscars interviews. In a clip backstage, Reese was interviewed and she spoke fondly of Kate Winslet and said she greeted her right after she won and handed her a glass of champagne. You can also see some of this in the pictures below. I will add the clip of Oprah shortly! For now mull through the beautiful pictures from yesterday night!

Yesterday Reese attended the Montblanc “Signature for Good” Charity Gala. She looked so stunning in a black frilly dress and peep-toe heels! I have added the first 47 pictures.

Reese Witherspoon also used the greens of her star-status to do some good by announcing that she would donate $50,000 from her personal bank account to match Montblanc’s donation for the evening.

Reese Witherspoon has advice for any Oscar winners at this year’s ceremony – relax after you take home the gong.

The actress – who won a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in the 2005 movie Walk The Line – says they can relish the winning moment forever because even if they make rubbish movies from then on no one can take their statue away.

“I love the fact they can’t take it back. It doesn’t matter how many stinky movies you do after it they can’t take it away from you,” she said.

Reese, 32, recently revealed her dreams to become an action star.

She said, “I would like to do an action movie. I love to watch Angelina Jolie in movies like Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

“I think movies where women have great strength and character are interesting. I’m dying to do one.”
