Hopefully you tuned in to MTV on Tuesday night for “MTV First: This Means War,” during which acclaimed actress and MTV Generation Award winner Reese Witherspoon presented an exclusive clip from her upcoming film and stuck around for a lengthy chat to discuss her diverse career and various leading men, the most recent being Robert Pattinson and “War” co-stars Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.

Witherspoon also talked about being a mom to daughter Ava, 12, and son Deacon, 8, and whether they have started to watch any of her movies together.

“Not really. I think it’s weird,” Witherspoon admitted. “I don’t encourage it, but if it comes on, we’ll watch it. They kind of find it entertaining. They’re kind of fascinated with a movie I did when I was 14. They really want to see ‘The Man in the Moon,’ because that’s sort of starting to be the age that they are.”

Seeing as how many celeb kids choose to follow in their parents’ footsteps, we asked Witherspoon if her children caught the acting bug or talked about wanting to act.

“It just doesn’t enter the picture. I encourage their artistic abilities at home, but they’ve never said that it’s anything they wanted to do,” Witherspoon said.

The busy actress and mom also dished about her encounter with Kate Middleton at the California launch of Tusk Trust, an organization designed to preserving Africa’s culture, back in July.

“That was very cool,” Witherspoon gushed of meeting the Duchess of Cambridge. “There’s such a history there, and I think there’s also a fascination with [Kate]. She carries herself so beautifully, keeps her composure, and under a lot of stress, I’m just kind of fascinated with how people handle different modes and lifestyles and all that. She’s very smart and sweet.”

Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo and cast of “The Artist” have been receiving rave reviews and awards nods for their black and white silent film, but a certain furry, four-legged actor keeps stealing the show – Uggie the Dog!

While Hollywood stars and audiences alike have fallen in love with the pup, Uggie only has eyes for one blond beauty.

“He likes Reese Witherspoon,” dog trainer/Uggie’s owner Owen Van Muller revealed to Billy Bush and Kit hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “They worked together [in ‘Water for Elephants’] and he just wanted to kiss her every time. He’s in love with Reese.” Owen rescued Uggie – a Jack Russell Terrier – when he was just “8 or 9 months old,” and the pup’s talent became evident very quickly.

“When did you know he had star potential?” Kit asked.

“Pretty soon after I got him because he was very, very smart, paid a lot of attention, loved to train, loved to work,” Owen answered.

Despite Uggie’s growing fan base, Owen said “The Artist” was the pup’s final feature film.

“He’s pretty much retired. He’s almost 10 years old and I really don’t want to put him through long hours anymore,” Owen said. “We were working 12, 15 hours a day in ‘The Artist.’”

Adding, “Maybe little things here and there, a couple of hours or something, would be fine, because he actually loves doing this work, but no more long hours.”

The DailyMail.co.uk have posted some preview photos and quotes from Reese’s interview with Graham Norton, which will air here in the UK tomorrow night. Reese talks about her recent car accident, and the reason behind her new fringe…

Many Hollywood stars get a fringe for a new look or to give a more youthful appearance.

But Reese Witherspoon admitted she decided to cut her hair after she was left with a scar following a road accident in September.

The Oscar winner ended up with a cut on her forehead and a black eye after she was knocked down by a pensioner’s vehicle while jogging.

The mother-of-two, 35, recalled the accident in Santa Monica during an interview on tomorrow nights’ Graham Norton Show.

Assuring Norton she had totally recovered following the ‘particularly un-showbizzy’ incident, she said: ‘I was jogging and I got hit by a car, it’s not funny at all.

‘They said I am very hard headed because I landed right on my head and I have a scar, hence my new hairdo.

‘I don’t remember much about it but miraculously and thank God I am fine.’

Witherspoon refused to press charges against the 85-year-old driver, who was cited by police for failing to stop for a pedestrian.

However, the actress joked the pensioner was now using a bus instead.

She added: ‘She was 85 so they took away her licence and gave her a

Reese’s new UK Glamour magazine cover hits newsstands today, and to promote the occassion, some photos and quotes from the spread have been posted online! Below are the quotes released, and you can find the photos in our Gallery – Reese looks absolutely beautiful!

Also, I posted a few days ago about Reese being in UK Vogue, but I was wrong!! The photo is actually from her UK Glamour spread. Too bad we won’t be treated to a separate spread in Vogue 😉

“Once I turned 35 I felt so much better but the anticipation leading up to it was miserable. It was less, ‘How do I look?’ and more, ‘What do I want to accomplish in life? Is this the career I love? Is this the legacy I want to leave for my kids?'”

“A lot of women who go through different things – like going through a divorce or whatever – talk to me and I always say, ‘You’re going to get through this. I know that sounds simple, but you really are. You’re going to be a different person, but you’ll be a better person.’ You have to look at all sides of everything – really look at your own behaviour. And be clear about the sort of person you want to be. And write it all down. I wish I’d written down more. All these life experiences. The good and the bad – all those feelings,”

“I’m not for it. I’m not against it. I have plenty of friends who do stuff and if it makes you feel good, great. But I don’t think it’s the fix for some sort of unease that you’re having about who you are as a human being. I don’t think I need plastic surgery at this point. Can we just go day-by-day on that one?”

The mother-of-two revealed she works out for an hour five days a week, doing yoga, spinning or running and admitted she has adjusted her diet to keep in shape.

Reese said: “”I don’t worry about it. I have the body I earned. I had two kids and I’m still strong and healthy.

“And you start to have a different respect for your body the older you get. Instead of tearing yourself apart all the time, you start to go ‘Oh wow’.”

“I have this fixation about this black leather The Row purse, but it’s so prohibitively expensive, I will not allow myself to buy it. I literally go to the store to visit it. Too much money – it feels decadent. I can’t wrap my brain around it. If I bought it, I’d only feel upset about it and take it back.”

At the 2011 MTV Movie Awards when Reese Witherspoon took the stage to accept her Generation Award, she used the moment to stand up for every young woman out there.

During her headline-making speech, she proudly told the girls watching the show that “I know it’s cool to be bad. I get it … but it’s also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show.” Now, many months later, Witherspoon sat down with MTV News on Tuesday (January 31) for “MTV First: This Means War.” And, during the lengthy chat, she opened up about her speech.

“Well, I have a 12-year-old daughter, and I take it all very seriously. I think there’s not a lot of positive images out there for young women, honestly,” she explained. “I don’t know, I just feel like shining the light on the good was an incredible move on MTV’s part and that you don’t have to sell yourself short and objectify yourself in order to be popular or liked or loved. And there’s many different ways to the watering hole and you can maintain you self-respect and still accomplish things.

“I don’t watch certain reality shows but there’s ones where people are doing cool, interesting things, like ‘Project Runway.’ But I’m not into women hating on other women or hitting each other or beating the crap out of each other to make money for a bunch of other people,” she continued. “I think that’s not what I want my kids to see.”

That feminist stance has made her the go-to role model for a new generation of stars, including Taylor Swift, who cites her as one of her idols. “I think it’s an accumulation of life experiences and hopefully you handle yourself with grace and dignity and life and that’s all you can hope for and hope to pass on to people,” she said of her own role-model status.

“And I think [Swift is] just an exemplary young lady,” she added. “It’s kind of interesting to see what a profound songwriter she is. I don’t even think anyone has realized, the long term is going to be the bigger revelation. It’s incredible how quickly she writes songs. We’ve hung out a couple of times; we live near each other in Nashville.”

Colin Firth has joined Reese Witherspoon in Devil’s Knot, the Atom Egoyan-directed drama about the West Memphis 3. As Deadline revealed just after the West Memphis 3 murder defendants were released from prison August 19, The Sweet Hereafter and Chloe director Egoyan came aboard to direct a script that was originally written by Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman, the team behind The Exorcism Of Emily Rose.

Firth will play Ron Lax, a private investigator who was the first pro bono supporter of the defendents as they headed to trial in 1993. Lax built one of the most prominent private investigative firms in the Southeast, and offered his services for free to the defendants, who at the time were reviled because of the heinous nature of the crime and the sensationalized reports about devil worship and ritualistic sacrifice. All of that was later proven to be unfounded, after Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley were convicted despite not a shred of physical evidence. Lax was an unsung hero and helped find the DNA in the knots that bound one of the victims, that cast suspicion on Terry Hobbs, the stepfather of Steven Branch, one of the 8-year old murdered boys. Witherspoon will play Pam Hobbs, the mother of Branch. She initially believed the trio murdered her son, is eventually persuaded that the three suspects are innocent and wrongly accused. Filming begins next summer in Louisiana, and other big names are expected to join the cast in smaller roles.

McG believes the most crucial part of directing a movie is getting the casting right.

The filmmaker is currently promoting his new movie This Means War, which stars Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.

The director explained why the romantic action movie needed a cast of strong actors to make it work.

This Means War tells the story of two best friends, who happen to be top secret agents. When they find out that they are in love with the same woman, they battle each other with high-tech surveillance and advanced tactics to win her affections.

“I believe that 90 percent of directing is casting, so I wanted to get together a group of talented people and you’ve got Chris and you’ve got Tom and you’ve got Reese,” McG told Cover Media at the London premiere of the film. “The film mixes a lot of tone – it’s an action picture and there’s a lot of comedy and there’s a lot of romance – and it’s all over the place and to make that satisfying in the end it required the deft touch of the three actors. And dare I say a fourth actor, Chelsea Handler, who is out of her mind.”
