Comments Off on Jacqueline Nagle talks about Reese headlining the Simpatico Tour
As previously posted about, Reese is going to be taking part in a speaking tour in Australia this year; the director of the event, Jacqueline Nagle, explains why she chose Reese to headline the talk. Watch Jacqueline talk about her choice on her official Facebook page, or in the video below. The 2nd video below explains what Reese will be doing during the event.
Last month, it was revealed Hollywood superstar Reese Witherspoon would be coming to Australia for her first ever speaking tour.
And Jacqueline Nagle, the Queensland mother who persuaded Reese to travel Down Under, told Sunrise on Wednesday why the Legally Blonde star was chosen to headline her $2,000-a-head event for women in leadership, titled the Simpatico Conference Series.
‘What I wanted was somebody who brings everything to the table,’ Jacqueline said of the 40-year-old actress-turned-producer, who will serve as keynote speaker for the events scheduled for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in July.
Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage asked how she expected an Oscar-winning star like Reese to ‘be inspirational to the average, everyday working Aussie woman.’
Jacqueline, who’s career has spanned several industries, replied: ‘If I just wanted a Hollywood superstar, there are hundreds we could have chosen.
‘But what I wanted was someone who brings everything to the table. So it’s about being an Oscar- winning actress, absolutely.
‘But it’s also about the fact she has her own production company, she has her own retail business, she is a working mum.
Reese Witherspoon Is Excited for the ‘Cruel Intentions’ TV Show: ‘I’ll Be Watching!’
Daddy’s little angel, a paradigm of chastity and virtue, is ready for some naughty TV.
Reese Witherspoon, who iconically played Annette Hargrove in the classic 1999 film, Cruel Intentions, stepped out at Stand Up To Cancer’s Standing Room Only event in New York on Saturday and told ET she’s looking forward to seeing the racy drama’s television spin-off.
“I’m excited!” Witherspoon exclaimed. “Sarah’s a good friend of mine, and our kids are in preschool together, so I’m really excited. It’s a lot of the original people involved, so yeah, I’ll be watching.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar will once again portray Kathryn Merteuil in the NBC revival, which is set 15 years after the events of the film. The show focuses on Bash Casey (American Crime’s Taylor John Smith), the son of Kathryn’s stepbrother, Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe in the movie), and Annette, as he enters the world of sex, power and corruption.
Perhaps Witherspoon will get so excited that she’ll agree to a cameo in the show?
Witherspoon also opened up about what the event — which honored SU2C co-founder Katie Couric with donors American Airlines, Merck and MasterCard — means to her, and how her husband, Jim Toth, continues to inspire her to give back.
“Obviously cancer affects so many people in my life and in everyone’s lives. I mean, literally, I don’t know a person whose life hasn’t been affected by this devastating disease,” she said. “My husband lost his father seven years ago to lung cancer, and it has been a mission of his to raise as much money as possible for cancer research.”
Reese Witherspoon’s New Role: Power Broker The actress has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most influential literary tastemakers in the book-to-screen business
Reese Witherspoon was frustrated. It was 2011, and the screenplays coming across her desk had one bland female character after another. Defined as wives or girlfriends, they were nice, respectable and, for an actor interested in character work, boring. She was drawn much more to the protagonists of the novels and memoirs she curled up with at night.
“My husband said, ‘Honey, you read more books than anybody I know. Why don’t you just option some and turn them into movies?’ ” Ms. Witherspoon recalled in a recent interview in Santa Monica, Calif.
In short order, she teamed up with producer Bruna Papandrea, launched an independent production company called Pacific Standard, and went on the hunt for challenging female characters. The pair quickly demonstrated that they could sniff out best sellers. They scooped up their first two books—Cheryl Strayed’s memoir, “Wild,” and Gillian Flynn’s thriller, “Gone Girl”—before they were published. In July 2012, just five months after the company was launched, the books hit No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list at the same time—in the nonfiction and fiction categories, respectively. Together, the films earned three Oscar nominations and grossed more than half a billion dollars.
Since then, Ms. Witherspoon has emerged as one of the most influential literary tastemakers in Hollywood. Her regular book recommendations on Instagram send Amazon rankings soaring. At a time when book adaptations remain a crucial segment of the film industry, Pacific Standard is an increasingly important player in the book-to-screen business. She and her partner have also invited some authors to adapt their own books, in the hopes of bringing new writing voices to film and television.
As posted about on the night, Reese attended the Oscars in Hollywood last weekend. She wore a gorgeous purple gown by Oscar de la Renta gown, with Jimmy Choo shoes and jewellry from Tiffany’s – I really love this look on her! Reese walked the red carpet with her husband, and was snapped greeting friend Naomi Watts. Inside, she presented clips from two of the Best Picture nominees with another friend, Kate Winslet. I’ve now added another 240 HQ photos from the event to our Gallery, and further down this post are a couple of videos and articles about how Reese put together her look for the night.
Big thanks to our friend Lindsey for many of the Photos ^_^
Reese Witherspoon Looked Positively Regal in Purple at the 2016 Oscars
Saoirse Ronan, Rachel McAdams, and Naomi Watts weren’t the only ones who got the jewel-tone trend memo at the Oscars; Reese Witherpoon sported a stunning plum Oscar de la Renta gown that almost was another color. “Last week, it was lavender,” reveals stylist Leslie Fremar. “We remade it in a darker purple because we thought it was really fresh and looked beautiful with her skin tone.”
The body-skimming gown featured a fan-like front detail and matching back bustle, as well as an intricate black corset. “The shape of the fan was really different and something I hadn’t seen before, and the black corset was really sexy,” she says.
Tiffany earrings and four bracelets bedecked with diamonds finished the look, explains Fremar. “We didn’t want to compete with how beautiful, but simple, the dress was.”
