Elizabeth Arden Signs Reese Witherspoon As Storyteller-in-Chief
Elizabeth Arden announced today that it has signed entrepreneur and critically acclaimed, Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon as the brand’s Storyteller-in-Chief. In this multi-faceted role, Reese will help to shape the brand’s narrative, through its advertising campaigns and marketing programs, with a strong focus on Elizabeth Arden’s digital strategy and engagement.
In researching visionary women throughout history, Reese learned of the life and achievements of Elizabeth Arden’s eponymous founder, who revolutionized the beauty industry at the turn of the 20th century as a self-made entrepreneur. Founding her company in New York in 1910, before women could even vote, Elizabeth Arden has a legacy of breaking boundaries. Reese, an entrepreneur in her own right as founder of Hello Sunshine, her content production company, and the Southern lifestyle and fashion brand, Draper James, was inspired to forge a partnership with such a likeminded company.

Lauren Levy Neustadter To Head Film, TV For Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Label
Lauren Levy Neustadter has been appointed Head of Film and Television for Hello Sunshine, the female-centric storytelling shingle launched by Reese Witherspoon and The Chernin Group and AT&T’s Otter Media. Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine CEO Kerry Tucker made the hire. Neustadter comes from FBC, where she is senior vice president of Programming and worked on shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project, Lethal Weapon and 24: Legacy. She also has film experience, previously serving as production veep at Fox where she oversaw films that included This Means War and Parental Guidance, and where she developed the Hugh Jackman-starrer The Greatest Showman on Earth, which is in production. Before that she served stints at Offspring Entertainment and Miramax. Neustadter leaves Fox to take the new job at month’s end.
Said Witherspoon: “I’m thrilled to welcome Lauren to the Hello Sunshine team. I had a wonderful experience working with her at 20th Century Fox and was very impressed with her accomplishments at Fox Television. Her passion for storytelling in both film and television gives me tremendous confidence in what she will bring to Hello Sunshine.” Tucker called her “an amazing addition to the Hello Sunshine team. It’s the start of a New Year, and time for us to look back on Reese’s dynamic 2016 and look forward to what she’ll be offering in 2017. On the surface 2016 was a relatively quiet year for Reese, but behind the scenes it seemed as if she’d been working in overdrive! She made a few red carpet and magazine cover appearances, but Reese’s 2016 seemed to have been focused on her Draper James company and developing strong roles for women in film through her production company Pacific Standard. 💛
The start of the year bought us Reese on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, in a gorgeous, feminine new photoshoot and an interview in which she chatted to the magazine about Draper James and her career. She echoed similar sentiments about improving the image of women in film to Entertainment Weekly magazine, in a ‘beyond beautiful’ spread also including Kerry Washington, Eva Longoria, and Elizabeth Banks. The interview touched on topics from social media to their diverse careers, and the pretty but simplistic photoshoot complemented the meaningful nature of the interview.
Reese’s major public appearance at the start of the year was at the Oscars. She wore a gorgeous purple gown by Oscar de la Renta, with Jimmy Choo shoes and jewellry from Tiffany’s. Her husband accompanied her on the red carpet, and inside the ceremony she introduced clips from two of the Best Picture nominees with her friend Kate Winslet. Reese’s stylist Leslie Fremar explained the choices behind Reese’s dress: “Last week, it was lavender. We remade it in a darker purple because we thought it was really fresh and looked beautiful with her skin tone. The shape of the fan was really different and something I hadn’t seen before, and the black corset was really sexy. We didn’t want to compete with how beautiful, but simple, the dress was.”
Reese is on the cover of the new issue of People magazine, in a feature about her festive plans. The magazine features festive photos taken to promote Draper James, and in the interview Reese talks about what she plans to give her kids for Christmas, her holiday traditions, and New Years Resolutions. Reese Witherspoon‘s got a list, and she’s checking it twice!
The star, 40, is gearing up for the holidays by making sure all her family’s favorite things are under the Christmas tree, especially for her three children: daughter Ava, 17, son Deacon, 13 (from her first marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe), as well as son Tennessee, 4 (with her husband of five years, agent Jim Toth).
“My kids already have fond memories of our Christmas traditions,” says Witherspoon, wearing the Winter Deer Skirt ($195) from her clothing line Draper James in the photo below. “They’re definitely not grown up. They still love presents.”
So what’s she getting for them? For Ava, she’s turning to her teenage daughter to guide her. “She wants blue jeans and a cool coat,” she says. “I told her to tell me exactly what to buy. I don’t want to guess!”
