Julia Roberts, Ellen DeGeneres, Zendaya and More Pass the Ball to Support Women’s Soccer
“What are you going to #PassTheBall for?”
That’s the question Julia Roberts asks in a fun PSA supporting the National Women’s Soccer League. Lifetime has teamed up with an all-star celebrity lineup including the mother of three, Ellen DeGeneres, Reese Witherspoon, James Corden, Zendaya and David Beckham for the special campaign.
“By passing the ball, you will help get the word out about these amazing athletes and the game they love,” Roberts says in the video.
For the Oscar winner, soccer is close to her heart: her daughter and two sons all play the sport. “On weekends we usually hit about four games on Saturday and sometimes one on Sunday,” she shares exclusively with PEOPLE. “It’s thrilling to see a whole group of kids grow up.”
As for life as a soccer mom, Roberts calls it “a total commitment.” “It has to be a family commitment for sure,” she adds. “It’s wonderful to be outside watching kids play the game they love — watching them grow from little kids playing on half a field to young men and women playing their hearts out.”
Asked why it’s especially empowering see girls kick the ball alongside her daughter, Roberts says, “I remember growing up my brother played soccer in high school and we had a had soccer team, but I didn’t know any girls who played soccer back in ye olden days.
“So it’s great to see everybody have an opportunity to participate in what is in our house our favorite sport.”
Reese celebrated her Draper James Fall Collection by making an appearance at the South Coast Plaza Nordstrom in Costa Mesa, California yesterday. She posed for photos and took the microphone to introduce the collection. She wore a little blue floral dress from the collection for the event. Find HQ photos in our Gallery:
Reese appeared on UK daytime chat show Lorraine today, to promote Home Again. She chatted about her film, growing up, Legally Blonde, Wild, her producing work, and her upcoming TV show with Jennifer Aniston. Here’s the clip:
Reese appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show With Nick Grimshaw to promote Home Again this morning. They also chatted about Reese’s daughter and English slang, and Big Little Lies and the Emmys. Wow, massive congratulations to the entire cast and crew of Big Little Lies who cleaned up at The Emmys last night!! They won a total of 8 awards, including Best Limited Series – which was a personal win for Reese as an executive producer – acting awards for Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgard and Laura Dern, and directing for Jean-Marc Vallee. On behalf of all Reese fans I think I can say how proud we are of her for the wonderful work she did both in front of and behind the scenes of Big Little Lies – this was clearly a passionate project for her and we’re so happy for her and the success and impact it’s having! And the same goes for the entire cast and crew who put together this fantastic show.
Reese was accompanied to the event by her husband, Mum and daughter, and posed on the red carpet with Nicole. Reese looked smart in a blue satin jacket dress by Stella McCartney (Reese wanted to wear a female designer), with a Tyler Ellis purse, shoes from Christian Louboutin, and David Webb jewellry.

Reese and her Home Again co-stars Candice Bergen, Jon Rudnitsky and Pico Alexander continued their promotional tour with an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen last night. As well as their movie, Reese chatted about her upcoming TV show with Jennifer Aniston and Big Little Lies. The show had various games involving Reese and Candice’s movies, including Four Christmases, This Means War, Fear, Sweet Home Alabama, Legally Blonde, The Man In The Moon and Just Like Heaven – it was pretty funny seeing Reese’s reactions to these movies! She also re-created the Bend & Snap and explained how and when to use it. It was a really fun and lively interview, and nice to see Reese alongside Candice. She wore a dress by Bottega Veneta with Alaia shoes. Hurricane Harvey, Irma Relief Telethon: How to Watch Star-Studded Event
The live televised ‘Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief’ telethon will include appearances and performances from Beyonce, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Drake, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Dave Matthews, Travis Scott and
The one-hour telethon, originally organized to help raise funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey, has since been expanded to also raise money for those affected by Hurricane Irma. It will air September 12th at 8 p.m. ET (and then again at 8 p.m PT) on ABC, NBC, CBS, BET, Bravo, CMT, E!, Fox, HBO, iHeart Media, MTV, Oxygen, SiriusXM, Univision and Westwood One.
Those without TV access can also stream the even live on AOL, Apple Music, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Beats 1 and Huffington Post.
The event’s other performances and appearances include: Blake Shelton, Michael Strahan, Barbra Streisand, Reese Witherspoon, Jamie Foxx, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts, Adam Sandler, Ryan Seacrest, Karlie Kloss and Rob Lowe.
Country legend George Strait is also expected to join the show live via satellite from his benefit concert in San Antonio at 9 p.m. ET.
Proceeds from the fundraising efforts will go the following charities: Rebuild Texas Fund, ASPCA, Best Friends, Direct Relief, Feeding Texas, Feeding Florida, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children and United Way.
