Earlier in the week Reese hosted a dinner to celebrate her friend and make-up artist Molly Stern’s collaboration with Sarah Chloe Jewelry. Reese was joined by Ava at the dinner, as well as Molly’s daughter, and Maya Rudolph who is another long-time client and friend of Molly’s. Reese wore a sleek gold dress from Draper James, and obviously accessorised with jewelry from the Molly Stern & Sarah Chloe collection. The collection is entitled Love Yourself, and can be purchased online here.
Reese Witherspoon Hosts Dinner for Molly R. Stern x Sarah Chloe Jewelry The actress hosted a dinner for her longtime makeup artist at Lucques in L.A. to celebrate Stern’s collaboration with Sarah Chloe Jewelry.
“I’ve known Molly since I was 16, she’s one of my dearest friends,” said Reese Witherspoon of her longtime makeup artist, Molly R. Stern. The actress hosted a dinner at Lucques in Los Angeles on Monday night to celebrate Stern’s collaboration with Sarah Chloe Jewelry, dubbed #LoveYourself.
“Molly spreads such a positive message,” added Witherspoon of Stern’s hashtag mantra. “She’s more about inner beauty than how you look on the outside.”
Stern’s other longtime client, Maya Rudolph, agreed. “Molly used to wax my eyebrows when I was in college and we just clicked. We met again on a project when I was working in costumes and wardrobe and when I got to a point in my career when I could pick my own makeup artist, it had to be her.”
The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Women In Hollywood feature was released this week, which included their Power 100 list – Reese was of course featured within it! Take that, Harvey!
HOW THR PICKS THE POWER 100 This year’s list spotlights 16 standout industry leaders who dominated the 2017 entertainment and media landscape and groups the rest by their role in the Hollywood ecosystem — from the film forces (working mostly on the big screen) to the reps (agents, et al). Honorees are listed alphabetically within each category.
Reese Witherspoon Actor, producer
CATEGORY Power Squad
Witherspoon scored big in 2017 with HBO’s acclaimed Big Little Lies (she starred and produced), for which she and fellow producer Nicole Kidman won an Emmy for outstanding limited series. “It showed me that audiences want to see a more accurate depiction of the female experience,” says Witherspoon, who launched her women-focused media brand Hello Sunshine in November 2016. She continues to buy book properties (including deals for A White Lie, with Zendaya attached, and Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, in which Witherspoon would also star) and will hit the big screen in March in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time. And in a deal that has Friends fans fawning, she recently sold a new series to Apple in which she’ll star opposite Jennifer Aniston.
Best thing to come out of the Weinstein scandal “Female solidarity.”
How I’ve helped women coming up in Hollywood “Call them, email them, work with them, and support them on social media.”
Hollywood woman I’d switch jobs with for a day Dana Walden
The three guests at my dream dinner party would be “Oprah, Mindy Kaling, Ava DuVernay and my mom.”
I wish men in Hollywood knew “What it feels like to be the only one in the room.”
Last show I binged Catastrophe, Westworld
TV or film character I most identify with “The squirrel in Ice Age constantly chasing an acorn.”
‘Big Little Lies’: Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, David E. Kelley to Return for Season 2
Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and David E. Kelley are re-teaming for another installment of HBO’s limited series “Big Little Lies.”
“This is inspired by the overwhelming response by audiences around the world, conceived once again by Liane Moriarty, realized by David Kelley and now in the hands of visionary filmmaker Andrea Arnold,” Kidman said in a statement. “What a journey this has been. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to keep exploring these female characters and make this series with my friends.”
Kidman and Witherspoon are set to star and executive produce with most of the rest of the cast of the Emmy winner expecting to return.
“I’m thrilled to be bringing back this talented team of artists,” said Witherspoon, who previously dropped out of “Pale Blue Dot” to free her schedule to shoot more “Big Little Lies.” “It gives us the opportunity to delve deeper into the lives of these intriguing and intricate Monterey families and bring more of their stories back to the audience who embraced and championed them. I’m beyond excited to be working with talented and acclaimed director Andrea Arnold who will be at the helm. Andrea’s unique storytelling style will be a welcome addition to the filmmaking team.”
The return of “Big Little Lies” will explore the “malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting,” per HBO. The premium cabler also promises “relationship will fray, loyalties will erode [and] the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.”
Kelley will write all seven scripts, which will be partially based on a story by Liane Moriarty, the author of the novel of the same name. Kelley will also executive produce, along with Kidman and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Witherspoon through Hello Sunshine, Bruna Papandrea, Jean-Marc Vallée, Nathan Ross, Gregg Fienberg and Andrea Arnold.
Moriarty is also a producer, and Arnold, who is an Academy Award and three-time Cannes winner, is also attached to direct.
“Big Little Lies” premiered on HBO in early 2017 and went on to win eight Primetime Emmy Awards at the 69th annual ceremony in Sept. of the same year, including limited series or tv movie, limited series or tv movie lead actress for Kidman, limited series or tv movie supporting actor (for Alexander Skarsgard), limited series or tv movie supporting actress (for Laura Dern), limited series or tv movie directing (for Jean-Marc Vallee), contemporary costumes (for Alix Friedberg) and music supervision (for Sue Jacobs).
Congratulations to the Big Little Lies cast and crew for another accolade – the prestigious American Film Institute has named the show one of their top 10 best of the year!
