Reese Witherspoon Honors Bruna Papandrea at Australians in Film Awards Gala
Bruna Papandrea, Elizabeth Debicki, Bill Mechanic and Dion Beebe were honored at the 4th annual Australians in Film awards benefit dinner and gala Sunday at the Hotel InterContinental in Century City. Carrie Bickmore hosted the reception that recognizes the contributions of actors and filmmakers to the Australian film industry.
Reese Witherspoon, who originally thought she would be unavailable Sunday, made a guest appearance to introduce her production partner and recipient of the Virgin Australia Orry-Kelly International Award, Papandrea. Witherspoon joked about Papandrea, rousing laughter from the crowd, but emphasized the producer‘s work ethic and perseverance. “I have definitely learned through this process where there is a will and a really loud, opinionated Australian lady, there is a way,” Witherspoon said.
Papandrea and Witherspoon, who launched the production company Pacific Standard together in 2012, strive to create movies that focus on a strong female lead. The pair released two high-profile films within two weeks of each other last year — “Gone Girl” and “Wild” — both of which are based on best-selling books.
Papandrea was raised by a single mother in Australia. “My point in telling you where I came from is to remind young people, at a time when they are told so often that they can’t accomplish their dreams, that all things are possible regardless of where you come from,” Papandrea said. “Always be who you are, speak your truth, [and] don’t be afraid to express your opinions even if they differ from other people’s, which they will.”
Over the past couple of months I’ve been working my way through updating the Movies section of our Gallery, adding in stills, posters, promotional photoshoots, trailer screencaptures, set pictures and more. So far, I’ve completed the galleries for everything from Wildflower up to Little Nicky. This includes new HD screencaptures from Cruel Intentions, American Psycho and Little Nicky.
Reese made some memorable movies in the 90’s – my favourites are Overnight Delivery, Cruel Intentions, Election and Pleasantville – and there are tons of fantastic old pictures of Reese in this update, so go have a browse…

Last night Reese made an appearance at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles. The event celebrates the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s favourite artists of the year, which this year were artist James Turrell and director Alejandro G Inarritu. Reese looked super-pretty in a floor length black gown and statement gold earrings. She was joined by her husband for the party. The first HQ photos are in our Gallery for you:
Last weekend Reese received her American Cinematheque Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Reese walked the red carpet with two of her kids – Ava & Deacon – and her husband Jim was in the audience with them. During the night, tributes were paid to her by friends and colleagues including Kate Hudson, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Garner, Alexander Payne, and Matthew McConaughey, who presented her with the award. Reese chose a simple yet chic block gown by Dolce & Gabbana for the event.

Reese Witherspoon Praised as ‘Modern Day Feminist’ at American Cinematheque Fete
The American Cinematheque honored Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon and DreamWorks Animation honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg at the organization’s annual fundraising gala Friday night at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.
Witherspoon received the American Cinematheque Award, reserved for an extraordinary artist currently making a significant contribution to the art of the Moving Picture. Specifically not a lifetime achievement prize, it is meant for mid-career recognition. Recent honorees have included Matthew McConaughey, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon and Samuel L. Jackson.
“This whole experience is just overwhelming and unbelievable because I’m really just a girl from Nashville who had a dream,” Witherspoon said. “I grew up on backlots and on locations. I had my entire childhood on film. I went through puberty on film, which is something I don’t feel totally great about, but I don’t regret it at all. It’s preserved forever.”
Last night Reese turned up to the launch of fellow entrepreneur Jessica Alba’s new Honest Beauty make-up line. Reese looked smart in a ruffled blouse with a skirt and jacket, and posed with Jessica Alba for the event. There’s only one photo from the event so far, and you can find it in HQ in our Gallery.
Reese also posted a pic from the event on her Instagram.
Go Inside Jessica Alba’s Star-Studded #LetsBeHonest Dinner
Jessica Alba knows how to throw a party! Last night in L.A. the always-bronzed actress gathered a troop of A-list celebrities for a candle-lit night of spicy skinny margaritas and plenty of girl-on-girl beauty fodder. Dressed in a crisp white jumpsuit with wide-legged trouser details, the beauty welcomed fellow Hollywood favorites like Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, and Olivia Culpo for the kickoff of her glossy new Honest Beauty campaign, #LetsBeHonest.
For the intimate affair, hosted inside CAA agent Michael Kives’s gorgeous home, Alba tapped event planner Alicia Townsend of Details Details to work with the Honest Beauty team to piece together the perfect, Moroccan-themed setting for roughly 70 friends. Next to a glass-encased fireplace surrounded by plush gray and white couches, guests including Nicole Richie, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, and InStyle’s Fashion and Beauty Editor-at-Large Kahlana Barfield gathered near their seats, where a feminine mix of metallic, acrylic, wood, and rock crystal table additions sat accompanied by “#LetsBeHonest You’re Beautiful” place cards and a box of covetable Honest Beauty finds like a limited-edition Everything Palette.
“Tonight’s event is all about fun. It will be some of my closest friends. They’ll see the products and just have a good time,” Alba told Barfield (below) as the two dabbed on Honest products together and got ready just before the night kicked off. “So many of my friends are entrepreneurs and there’s nothing better than supporting one another.”

A couple of weeks ago Reese attended the launch of Tiffany & Co.’s new Masterpieces collection in Singapore. Photos were added to the Gallery at the time, and within this post you can find lots of interviews from the event.
One minute with Reese Witherspoon on Tiffany’s blue carpet
Capitol Theatre was awashed in blue last night, 15 October 2015 as Tiffany & Co. celebrated the launch of their new Masterpieces collection with a posh gala dinner. On the specially-created “blue carpet,” VIP guests and celebrities alike walked the press line to enter the theatre where they had the opportunity to see the new collection, created by design director Francesca Amfitheatrof in all its glory.
Of course the excitement of the night was the appearance of actress and brand-fan Reese Witherspoon, who flew to Singapore especially to attend this event. Witherspoon has already been seen wearing the Masterpieces collection in an appearance at this year’s Met Gala which she attended alongside Amfitheatrof.
We managed to catch one minute (literally) with Witherspoon and Amfitheatrof to talk about the new Tiffany’s collection.
LifestyleAsia (LSA): When you’re getting ready for the red (or in this case, blue) carpet, do you prefer statement or more subtle jewellery?
Reese Witherspoon (RW): Well it sort of depends on what I’m wearing. If I am wearing something more romantic, I like jewellery that is more simple, more classic. But when I wear something sleek, more contemporary then I want something more romantic. It really depends — I like to mix it up.
