Reese is amongst a very star-studded line-up on the cover of this years Vanity Fair Hollywood issue, which has been released online today. Alongside her Big Little Lies co-star Nicole Kidman and A Wrinkle In Time co-star Oprah Winfrey, Reese is joined by Tom Hanks, Zendaya, Jessica Chastain, Claire Foy, Michael Shannon, Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Robert DeNiro, Michael B. Jordan and exiting Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter – what a line-up!! The issue consists of the fold-out cover photoshoot, and a small blurb on each star. The 2018 Vanity Fair Hollywood Portfolio: 12 Extraordinary Stars, One Momentous Year

A super-stellar lineup, including Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, Nicole Kidman, and Reese Witherspoon—plus, one special cameo—took advantage of their downtime during the shoot of a historic V.F. cover.

In the quarter-century since Vanity Fair launched the Hollywood Issue, show business has changed in fundamental ways, as have magazines. But a star-studded, foldout cover remains a surefire thrill. This year’s portfolio goes inside the cover’s creation, which took place in L.A. and New York as Annie Leibovitz photographed 12 of film and TV’s most iconic actors—with a non-actor corralled for the shoot for his last V.F. hurrah.

The films and TV shows represented by the actors in this year’s Hollywood Portfolio—which for the first time offers a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot—took the #MeToo movement in stride, offering strong women in leading roles, as well as strong men supporting them. Here we have Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman summoning the women’s battle cry of Big Little Lies alongside Tom Hanks as Ben Bradlee, the indispensable sidekick to The Post heroine Katharine Graham. There’s also Claire Foy and Gal Gadot, embodiments of their formidable characters, the Queen and Wonder Woman, and one possible future female president in the mix. Movies have always thrived on relevance, and this year’s cover stars don’t hesitate to make a statement about the times we’re living in and the changes that need to happen.

REESE WITHERSPOON, actor, producer.
39 films, including A Wrinkle in Time (2018); one Academy Award.

Fresh from the starting gate, Reese Witherspoon radiated poignant yearning in The Man in the Moon. Only 15 at the time, Witherspoon was a natural on-screen, but a lot of naturals turn unnatural with time; not our Reese. Her special gift is for clear carbonated comedy, most memorably as Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods, whose bunny fluff conceals a snap-crackle-and-pop brain. Rom-coms aplenty followed, girded by dramatic triumphs: country madonna June Carter in Walk the Line and scary momster Madeline Martha Mackenzie in HBO’s smash mini-series Big Little Lies.

As expected, Reese attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles last night. She was of course nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for her performance in Big Little Lies – the award went to her co-star Nicole Kidman. Alexander Skarsgard also won his category for the show. We send a massive congratulations to the Big Little Lies winners, and the entire cast and crew for their phenomenal run at these awards shows! Reese walked the red carpet with Laura Dern, and was seen cheering for Nicole during the ceremony. Reese opted for a classic, elegant look of an emerald green dress by Zac Posen, with jewellery from Gismondi, Jimmy Choo shoes, and a bag from Tyler Ellis. Initially I wasn’t sure about this look on Reese, but it’s growing on me, and I particularly love her hair and accessories!

We have the first HQ photos for you in our Gallery, and this post will be updated with more coverage in the coming days. Thanks to our friend Sara for help with photos.

Reese attended the Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills last night, where she and her Big Little Lies producing partners were nominated for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Drama. Unfortunately they lost out to The Handmaids Tale team, but it’s still fantastic to see Reese being honoured as a producer in her own right from such an important guild. Reese also presented her A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay with the Visionary Award during the event:

Each year, the Visionary Award recognizes film, TV or new media producers for their unique or uplifting contributions to our culture through inspiring storytelling or performance. DuVernay is being recognized for her work in creating topical films and TV shows focusing on important social issues. They include the Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning doc 13th about race and the prison system in America, and the critically acclaimed OWN drama series Queen Sugar.

Her upcoming Disney film A Wrinkle in Time makes her the first black woman to direct a film budgeted over $100 million. (Deadline)

Reese wore a sparkly brown beaded dress by Dolce & Gabbana with shoes by Chloe Gosselin for the event, and looked super chic on the red carpet. We have the first photos for you in our Gallery:

The Gallery has been updated today with HD film screencaptures from Reese’s most recent cinematic release, Home Again. Unfortunately I don’t have much positive to say about this film, as I felt the script and characters were lacking. However, Reese’s passion for giving women in film opportunities is always admirable, and she was proud to say that this film was centred on a woman, and directed/written and produced by women. Enjoy the pretty screencaptures:

Reese attended the Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica last night, where Big Little Lies was nominated for several awards – and won most of them! Congratulations once again to Reese and her cast and crew for their well deserved wins. Reese posed on the red carpet with Laura Dern and Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke; inside the ceremony she was snapped with Octavia Spencer and her husband. Reese was cheering on Nicole Kidman, and the producers posed with their co-star Laura Dern and other cast & crew from the show during the ceremony and backstage – lots more fabulous Big Little Lies cast shots for us! Reese wore a black beaded dress by Prada, with Roger Vivier shoes, and Nikos Koulis jewellery.

As expected, Reese Witherspoon attended the Golden Globe Awards last night, and was quite the star of the show not to mention an inspiration to all! Big Little Lies was nominated for 6 awards and won one award in every category it was nominated in, including Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television – this of course meant Reese was honoured for her work as a producer on the show. Glamour Reese sends a massive congratulations to Reese and the entire cast and crew for their well deserved wins last night and for the on-going success and love the show is receiving – we’re so proud of Reese! Reese used her speech to highlight the bravery of the women who have come forward in the last year with stories of abuse and harassment, and Reese vowed to continue telling their stories and raising awareness of the issue. Backstage, the cast talked about the reasons for wearing black tonight, the bond between the cast, and of course season 2 of the show! You can watch the acceptance speech and backstage interviews below.

In addition, Reese also presented her friend and A Wrinkle In Time co-star Oprah Winfrey with the Cecil B. de Mille Award.

Reese walked the red carpet with friend Eva Longoria, to show support for the Times Up movement. Reese also posed with Halle Berry, Ashley Judd, Salma Hayek, Emma Stone, Billie Jean King, Geena Davis and Sharon Stone. Most of the attendees – male and female – wore black, again to show their solidarity for those who have come forward with stories of abuse and harrassment. Reese wore a custom Zac Posen gown, with Jimmy Choo shoes and Bulgari jewellery.

December 31, 2017   •  Category: "Hot Pursuit", "Wild", Gallery Updates0 Comments

Since our last Public Appearances Gallery catch-up post I’ve continued to work on completing this section of the Gallery, and I’m pleased to say that it’s now done! The 2015 events have been finished off, with lots of new HQ additions. 2015 was another very busy year for Reese – she started it off enjoying the success of Wild during awards season, then promoted Hot Pursuit, then enjoyed more awards success at the end of the year with career honours from the American Cinematheque and Glamour’s Women Of The Year. Reese had a lot of fun with her fashion this year too and sported a variety of looks, including some more daring styles and lots of colour. My favourite looks from this year include the 60’s look at the Critics Choices Awards, the glam Golden Globes glittery gown, her purple BAFTAs dress, the sultry and sassy Hot Pursuit premiere dress, and the chic Good Morning America outfit. This is definitely one of my favourite years for Reese photos, and there are some gorgeous photos in the Gallery now for you to enjoy too 😀

There are a few more event photos to add to albums we already have up, but our next task in the Gallery is completing the Movies section….

Happy New Year Reese fans! Thanks for your support in 2017, and stick with us as we enjoy another year (our 17th!) of supporting Miss Witherspoon in her many adventures!
