Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon ‘This Means War’ interview
Reese Witherspoon finds herself torn between two men in Charlie’s Angels director McG’s latest movie This Means War.
Tom Hardy and Chris Pine are the suitors competing for her affections, and to add an extra twist to proceedings they’re both best friends who happen to be highly-trained CIA field agents.
Witherspoon and Pine sat down with Digital Spy to discuss early roles (“She’d seen me in ER,” quips Pine), Hardy’s love for mixed martial arts and weigh in on the age-old Star Trek debate: Captain James T Kirk vs. Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
Pine admitted that his character’s desire to impress Witherspoon’s Lauren spilled over off-screen with Hardy.
“I think guys naturally do that when there’s a beautiful woman around,” he said.
“There’s the inclination to out-charm the other, so Tom threw his best English accent at it and I tried to impress her with my hair.”
Reese Witherspoon is indecisive about her movie roles.
The actress is currently promoting her new movie This Means War alongside Chris Pine and Tom Hardy. She has appeared in a wealth of blockbusters throughout her successful career including Legally Blonde, Walk the Line and Cruel Intentions.
Although Reese has a glittering Hollywood career, the 35-year-old star still struggles when choosing which projects to take on.
“In my life when I am deciding what movies to do I will just wring my hands, just really ruminate about things over and over,” she told UK TV show Daybreak.
“I am not very decisive at all, I can’t commit to a vacation until the very last minute, ‘Should we go there?’ I don’t know…’ I don’t know why.”
Reese discussed what she hopes to do next after promotion for This Means War ends. The blonde star proved her indecisiveness when she revealed that she currently weighing up her options.
“I don’t know…. I am trying to decide between two movies!” she exclaimed.
“What am I going to do next? It comes back round… I don’t know what to do next.”
Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine explain why their latest comedy ‘This Means War’ is a good date movie, while director McG reveals viewers might get different endings in different cinemas. (Feb. 28)
In an exclusive interview, Reese revealed that Daniel Craig was her favourite James Bond. Ours too. Have you SEEN those blue swimming trunks?!
Reese said: “He’s a good Bond. That’s the rough and tumble kind of Bond,” she said, gazing off into the distance and imagining Daniel Craig.
Reese was joined by her This Means War co-star Chris Pine, and seeing as the film is about two guys fighting over a girl, Yahoo! Movies asked them about their thoughts on whether it’s ever OK to date a friend’s ex.
“I think you’d have to be really into the girl,” Chris said. “You’d have to really think that this was a special thing to fight your friend over.”
Reese agreed. “Isn’t there a code? Bros before h**? Or chicks before d**** is the girls’ version.”
While we have a break in This Means War promotion, and my Reese update roll is continuing, I thought I’d get in another movie screencapture update. So today I have uploaded screencaptures from the How Do You Know DVD extras. There were a few extras on my DVD, although the bloopers were released back during promotion for the film, and I’m fairly certain I’ve seen at least one of the deleted scenes before. Still, I’m very glad they put something on the DVD, it always makes it more fun to receive your copy.
We’ll have super pretty HD caps from the movie itself up over the weekend, time permitting, but for now, enjoy these extras…
Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon, who visited Korea to promote her new film “This Means War” last week, reportedly got swept away by the country’s traditional culture on her first trip to the capital. During her three-day trip, she was photographed looking at handicrafts in the famous tourist spot of Insa-dong in the downtown area and trying local delicacies.
She also tried some hotteok, or sweet pancake with brown sugar, from a street snack cart and revealed her interest in temple food recipes at a store selling ingredients. She also bought some presents for her two children and Korean cosmetics as gifts for her friends.
Earlier, Witherspoon said that she was impressed by the warm welcome from her Korean fans at a press conference on Thursday. She also revealed her hope of getting the chance to work with Korean director Bong Jun-ho, as well as expressing her appreciation of the films of Park Chan-wook.
“This Means War” is set to be released on local theaters on Wednesday.
In a seven-figure preemptive deal, Sony Pictures is collaborating with Ryan Murphy on One Hit Wonders, a musical comedy pitch that will be written as a star vehicle for Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce and Andy Samberg.
Murphy is attached to direct, and he will write the script with his Glee cohorts Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Murphy will produce with Paltrow (who has practically become a Glee cast member) and the latter makes her debut as a producer on this film. Murphy hopes to direct it after he completes The Normal Heart.
Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz will play three singers who each scored a top hit song in the 1990s before watching their careers go down the drain. They decide to form a super group. Samberg and his Lonely Island cohorts will be involved in generating music for the film, I’m told. The project came out of a dinner Murphy had at the Soho House with Paltrow, Diaz and Witherspoon. They wanted to do something fun together and kicked around ideas until they settled on One Hit Wonders. Murphy, who made Eat Pray Love with Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal, took the pitch to her. Pascal bought it 10 minutes in. They are working the deals right now. Murphy previously made a big deal with Sony for a follow-up picture he’ll direct with Julia Roberts starring. Sony’s Elizabeth Cantillon and Hannah Minghella will steer the project.
UPDATE: Beyonce’s camp says that she isn’t attached to One Hit Wonders, so perhaps this was a bit of over-exuberance on the part of the filmmakers. Still a crazy good cast if you ask me.
I’ve updated the This Means War Promotion section on our sidebar, to include links to all the recent photos, as well as a list of the upcoming appearances Reese will be making (yes, still!) to promote the movie worldwide. Unless I heard wrong, I think Reese said in her recent iVillage live chat that she would be going to Brazil, Mexico City and Germany in March to promote the movie before it’s release in each of those countries.
So we have lots of new photos to look forward to still!
